My name is Kelly Rush and I am the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Matt Arthur Elementary.
A little about me..............I was born and raised in Caribou, Maine. My parents were both educators so it seemed my destiny in education was set. After graduating from Caribou High School, I attendedthe University of Maine at Presque Isle where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I began my teaching career as a Kindergarten teacher in Stockholm, Maine in 1990. I also taught First Grade, Second Grade and Special Education.
My husband was in the US Air Force, and we moved to Warner Robins in 1999. I began teaching Special Education at Eagle Springs Elementary in January of 2000 and remained there until May of 2014. In 2014 I was hired as the Assistant Principal for Discipline at both Miller Elementary and Matt Arthur Elementary. In 2015, I accepted the position of Assistant Principal for Instruction at Matt Arthur Elementary.
To further my education, I decided to go back to school to obtain a Master's Degree in Special Education and then a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University. I also obtained my Doctoral Degree from Columbus State University in Georgia.
My husband has since retired from the US Air Force and works in Civil Service at RAFB. We have been married for 29 years and we have two sons, Brandon and Zachary. In my spare time I love to spend time with family and friends. I enjoy reading and watching movies.
I am so honored to be a part of Matt Arthur Elementary School, and pleased to work with the best educators, students, parents and community members in Houston County!!
